Semester Chapter Assignments.... ( In the event of an emergency where the instructor cannot get to the class, students will immediately work on the next chapter for the regular class duration and then sign a class roll and pass it to the main campus to the attention of Clyde Denton) Notebook/Portfolio requirements...The portfolio will have a table of contents with at least 10 separate tabs for research, notes, class exercises, student contacts, new word list,quiz grades, attendance dates, 3x5 cards, projects and the book. Students will submit the portfolio for a check every three weeks. WEB BASED ASSIGNMENTS...Complete the VAK inventory...Complete the Sexual Harassment training..Summarize the new student orientation...Complete a Resume...Locate and handwrite the Syllabus....These count 20 points each! WELCOME TO Spring 2008 LEARNING STRATEGIES CLASSES ...... Week 1..Read the introduction and complete all exercises and journal entries and discuss the syllabus which is on line. Week 2..Read chapter 1 and complete all exercises and journal entries. Week 3.. Read chapter 2 and complete all exercises and journal entries. A portfolio check is due next week. Complete the virtual orientation and sexual harassment training certificate, and then put this under a research tab in your portfolio. This along with the hand written syllabus counts as 3 projects. Week 4..Read chapter 5 and complete all exercises and journal entries. Week 5.. Read chapter 3 and complete all exercises and journal entries. Week 6.. Portfolios are due the first class meeting this week. Total homework then total all quizzes and then total all on line research. A short midterm exam will be given this week. No credit will be given for chapters 1,2,5,3, after Mid-term exam... We will cover chapter 4, chapter 6, chapter 7, chapter 8, chapter 9, chapter 10, chapter 11 and chapter 12 after midterm exams. Research topics are on the college website and include the virtual orientation, sexual harassment, the syllabus, library database and career services.
